"The Lament of a Lost Soul" - A Voicemail from the Abyss
-By Matthew Alan Rivera
I am a lost soul, wandering in the dark

I am a lost soul, wandering in the dark
Searching for meaning, in a world that's stark
I am a prisoner, of my own mind
Trapped inside, a labyrinth I cannot find
I am a bird, with a broken wing
Fluttering helplessly, and trying to sing
But my voice is silenced, by the pain within
And I'm left to suffer, in this lonely din
I am a flower, that's wilted and died
With petals fallen, and tears that have dried
For I have lost my way, in this cruel world
And I am left to wander, in this emptiness curled
I am a mirror, that's shattered and scarred
Reflecting the hurt, and the pain that's jarred
For I've seen worse and worst, that this life can bring
And I'm left with nothing, but sorrow to cling
I am a river, that's flowed with tears
And I've washed away, all my hopes and fears
But no matter how far, no matter how hard I try to run
I'm left with nothing, but this lamenting song
So I'll keep wandering, in this endless night
And I'll keep searching, for a ray of light
For I know that someday, I'll be found
And I'll break free, from this lamenting sound.
