On August 8th, 2023, I got home late from a music event in Northfield Minnesota. These recordings are improvisational pieces played from 10:20pm to 11:30pm. It was an interesting session. After all was played, I went through the audio and these eight pieces were the best ones worth processing and putting together on this album.

This selection of improvisational free-writes were done in the moment from November through December 2020 on Patreon. I launched on Patreon in November of 2020 as I was regaining my ability to play piano after a major car accident.
Over Labor Day weekend of 2020, I fulfilled my life-long dream, getting my own grand piano. One week later, while driving my Ford Focus, I stopped at a red light and got rear-ended by a distracted driver in a pickup truck. My car was pushed across the intersection and was totaled. I am lucky to be alive...
I wasn't sure if I would be able to play piano again. By November, I was able to play for a few minutes a day. I made the most of those precious minutes by playing "In the Moment" improvisations. I was releasing a flurry of emotions through the piano during sleepless nights while enduring intense pain as I recovered. Playing piano helped get me through it.
Those months of recovery, wrought with pain, brought back many unprocessed childhood traumas. I was emotionally off the deep end for a while. I am now on the mend, though still not fully recovered and possibly never will. Life's challenges offer growth and evolution. Music is my solace, my escape, my everything. This album is my very soul at its most vulnerable. Making these free-writing improvisations helped me heal and overcome so much...so very much.

From the Album, "In the Moment" On November 11th, this was my improv log of my recovery from my September 2020 car accident. I am lucky to have survived and recovered from it. That started my journey putting my music out there now that I can make music once again.
